Q: Let’s talk tea! What’s your favorite tea?

A: Yes, I love tea! Tea has been an integral part of my daily mental health rituals for a few years now. My favorite is chamomile because it’s one of the ways that I incorporate special time with my oldest who is now eight. I know that I can count on sharing a cup of tea with her to reconnect. -Ruby

Q: What inspired you to start your community building network?

A: Las Mamacitas began as a mommy and me playdate group. Both of us were looking to connect with other moms who had already started their entrepreneurial journey or who were looking to connect with other women in the community. I (Ruby) grew up in my mom’s beauty salon and although she had some success, I just knew that if she would have had a community or network of other women sharing resources, she wouldn’t have gone through struggles. She made ends meet selling at swap meets on the weekends, and I accompanied her there as a child, that is where I would daydream of one day organizing my own pop up where the individuals would have access to more than just a space to sell. – Ruby

As for me (Janet), I’ve had an entrepreneurial spirit since a young age but when I became a mom, I felt lost. Curating and putting so much love into all the small details of our first Las Mamacitas event allowed me to find my creativity once again. Meeting women face to face and getting their feedback inspired me and continues to give me the motivation to keep doing this. They deserve the space to feel seen and heard are the reason why we continue to do what we do! -Janet

Q: What are some of your most savored moments in celebrating Hispanic culture through empowering women within your community?

A: Our favorite moments are when we are able to host our events in spaces most frequented by BIPOC. It feels great when we all come together and contribute our very own resources to empower one another; in a way it feels like a celebration of our Hispanic communities accomplishments. -Ruby
